• Interpreting light originating from galaxies. Spectral energy distribution, stellar populations and interstellar matter. Redshift of galaxies.
• Kinematics and dynamics of galaxies. The hidden table problem.
• Statistical properties of groups of galaxies: functions of mass and luminosity. Clusters and groups of galaxies.
• Introduction to cosmology. Cosmic microwave radiation. Evolution of galaxies in a cosmological context
